Acrylic painting on 5×7” gessobord
This seascape is on 11×15 inch watercolor paper, painted with acrylic paint. The beach is calling me already and it is still January!
After a blizzard of two feet of snow, a summer seascape seems like just the thing to paint! This is an acrylic on 11×14 gessobord.

This challenge is to premix color and paint one object at a time. I’m going to look into some acrylic mediums this week and do this one again. My little acrylic puddles dried too quickly to last through each object, so some retarder or other medium may be just the thing. Thanks to Robin Rosenthal for this challenge at Daily Paintworks.
I’m still intrigued with getting an interesting snow painting. This week’s Daily Paintworks challenge is to paint snow. This painting was done from a photo I took last week just as snow was imminent. The photo was basically all grey and the houses were pretty dull, too. I wanted to add color without taking away the snowy atmosphere. Mostly, I brightened everything with some more color than it appeared was there. I’m happy with this snow scene. It’s being auctioned at DPW. If you are interested, here’s the link:
