Chilean Port Town Painting

Image

My son took the photo of this scene while he was in Chile a few years ago.  It is an 8×8 inch acrylic on paper original painting and is available for auction at Daily Paintworks. If you’re interested in purchasing it, here’s the link:

DPW Creative Color Challenge

This is another go at the Daily Paintworks challenge this week to use a black and white photo of Max the cat and paint it in any colors using the correct values.  It is a 5×7 acrylic on paper.

Cat Painting

Image

This is an 8×10 acrylic on stretched canvas painted in response to Daily Paintworks’s challenge this week to use some color in a black and white photo of this cat.  The colors I used are cad red light, quinacridone red, cad yellow, white and black.  This can definitely be approached another way. The values need to be right but it can be any color.  Try for yourself and have fun.

Noteworthy sites about art

One site I often go for reading great interviews of great artists is painting perceptions.com.  There is never enough time to go through all the interesting information I find there, but I do go back often and come away inspired.  They gave a link to a site about Edwin Dickenson, the painter, which is also a place of great interest to visit. Have fun!

Interior with Flowers

Image

This week’s Daily Paintworks challenge is to paint an interior. This was from a photo I took of fresh flowers in front of a painting. It is 8×10, acrylic on stretched canvas. If you are interested in purchasing this painting, here’s the link to the auction:

Begin with play

I’ve done a lot of dog portrait commissions in the past and they have been reasonably realistic. This is a painting I had fun with today, painted from an old photo, and painted with a sense of play. I will do more of these because it was so freeing. After being away from painting, there is a bit of reluctance to begin. What to paint and other questions arise. I figure play is a good way to begin.Image

40 'fore Forty

I'm on a life changing journey to 40. There will be ups, there will be downs. I'm like a roller coaster but with more agoraphobia.
